At Leigh on Mendip Primary School, we are committed to providing a fully inclusive learning environment where all children can thrive. We believe every child is unique and aim to support all learners, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), to achieve their full potential.
This page provides information and guidance for parents and carers of children with SEND. If there’s anything you’d like to see added or if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Our Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENDCo) is Mrs Gemma Smith. She works closely with families, staff and external agencies to ensure that the right support is in place for children with additional needs.

Accessibility Plan
How we ensure our school environment and curriculum are accessible to all learners.
We understand that all children can experience behavioural challenges from time to time. We have staff who are trained in Team Teach strategies, which provide a positive approach to behaviour management. This ensures the safety and well-being of every child and promotes a calm, respectful learning environment.
If your child is experiencing persistent behavioural challenges, please speak to us – we're here to help and support both you and your child.
Whether you’re at the start of your journey or already accessing support, we are here to work with you every step of the way. Please contact Mrs Smith or the school office if you'd like to arrange a meeting or learn more about the support available.
