Religious Education

We have identified threshold concepts, the most significant knowledge in the subject, which form schema to help pupils to assimilate new knowledge and are referred to in a wide breadth of topics. In RE, threshold concepts mean knowing about:

  • Understanding beliefs and teachings
  • Understanding values
  • Understanding practices and lifestyles
  • Understanding how beliefs are conveyed
  • Reflecting

RE is taught as a discrete subject with links made to other subjects where appropriate.

Our long term plan for RE ensures that RE knowledge and skills are built upon progressively as children move through the school.

Our learning is based on the Somerset agreed syllabus or sacre, 'Awareness, Mystery & Value'. This syllabus relates beliefs to everyday life.
